Today, my husband and I had to cancel our family Disney World trip because my mom stole and gambled away all of our spending money. Our kids are still crying and throwing tantrums and don't understand why we can't afford to go anymore. FML

Today, my wife and I had to cancel our family vacation to the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas that we had planned for almost two years and spent thousands on, because our son tripped over his suitcase and dislocated his ankle as we were leaving to go to the airport. FML

Today, my brother and sister-in-law uninvited my family from their Disney Cruise because I told them that my daughter is not going to babysit their kids. I don't know how to tell my kids that we're no longer going. They're going to be so devastated. FML

Today, I found out that my 2 week Christmas vacation my boss was talking about wasn't for this year, but 2010. I spent the day with my husband cancelling flights to Florida, and explaning to my 8 year old why we were not going to Disney World. FML

Today, my mom stole my holiday money because she found it “near her bag” in my kitchen and “assumed it was hers” and she must have “forgotten it was in there all this time.” I demanded it back, but she’d already spent it on hair, nails, shoes, and a date night with dad. She won’t pay me back either. FML

Today, we were supposed to go to Disneyland but we got in a blazing argument. Then this morning I woke up to my alarm clock disabled, he was gone, my ticket was in the kitchen shredded, and when I rang him the bastard was in the first class lounge, waiting to get on the plane without me. FML

That’s horrible! Mom has certainly screwed you over and has a very serious gambling addiction. … I also cannot help wondering how Mom had access to a couple’s savings - Was it in cash laying out somewhere or did she commit bank fraud or steal your ID? … I suspect you live with Mom in her house, otherwise the consequences would be simple - Eviction and legal charges. But if you live with Mom in her house it’s more of a problem. … Whatever the situation, make sure Mom can never get her hands on your money, credit cards, or bank information again. Once is a tragedy - Twice would be a failure on your part too. Get out of there, it’s not a safe space if you are living with a thief and it won’t get better no matter what she says.
