You mean ex-boyfriend right? ... right?
You can't save an addict, sweet heart. Only he can save himself and he's clearly not ready. He's going to treat you like shit, cheating, verbally breaking you down and then treat you worse and worse until you have your come to Jesus moment and get the hell out. Unless HE has a come to Jesus moment about the drink and turns himself around there is absolutely NOTHING you can do for him except enable his addiction and behaviour. This is the evil of addiction. It doesn't just destroy the person, it tortures everyone who loves them as well. He's texting other women and drinking again. Walk away on that alone. Now. Before he drags you under with him and you waste x years keeping his hell together before he hits you or you wake up one day and realise just how much of yourself you have wasted on holding him up. If this is not the first bad relationship you have found yourself in then you need to stay single for a while, find a therapist and figure out why your subconscious thinks these sorts of guys are attractive. Once you figure that out, you can deal with it and move on to much better guys who you will enjoy so much more than this. 🫂
I am a retired RN from a big city VA hospital, but you don't need me to tell you that RNs are not allowed to fraternize with patients. If this story is true, you'd be within your rights to notify the VA because this is unacceptable. Also, dump that loser.
