The golden child

Today, my wife changed her mind on us having kids, because her eight year-old son said he liked being an only child. She says that my devastated and angry reaction is incredibly unattractive and immature, and that I need to accept compromise. FML

Definitely a dealbreaker for her to make a decision like that without even discussing it with you. Time to move on.

That's very nearly a deal breaker. Her child does not get a vote on this. This isn't compromise, it's a binary decision and she's reneging.

Has she also ended any of your friendships/interfered with family relationships? Does she usually browbeat you with a brick when you get upset that she's making decisions without any input from you? Does she always minimise/dismiss and treat your feelings and opinions like an annoying inconvenience? Has she taken control of all the money? If the answer is yes to two or more of these questions then you need to find a therapist to help you figure out what YOU want to do.

while I absolutely don't think that people should have kids if they don't want them... yeah she handled that badly.
