Today, I was supposed to see an apartment. Thirty minutes after I was to meet the owner, she still hadn't shown. I called her. When I got no response, I was annoyed and kept calling. Finally, she answered, said, "I'm in the hospital with my father. He just died. Please stop calling me," and hung up. FML

It ended up taking a lot longer than I expected, because while I was on my way, my mom called to inform me that my great aunt passed away this morning. As a result, I showed up extremely late and was berated. And the worst part? It's my birthday. FML

Shit like this gets through, and yet, many great FMLs Ive seen when I mod the FMLs never make it. OP, I guess you didnt "see" it coming. lol. Sorry for the family though, they are the ones that are affected the most.

Adding on to #52: If a secretary had to call 25-40 people (times how ever many days of appointments are scheduled) to say that her boss/possible friend died I bet they'd ESPECIALLY prefer a voice mail. My official judgment, not an FML, not a YDI... just an odd coincidence. Everyone should just move on (including me) see ya!

Most doctors call the day before to remind patients they have an appointment. However, I agree with Snickerdoodles that you should answer the phone if possible in case it's something urgent.
