NO HITTING

By jimma - 29/05/2026 05:00 - United States

Today, my wife and I had a huge fight that ended with her taking my son and going to her mother's. What happened? I caught him playing with the knobs on the GAS STOVE for the third time and spanked him for it. He's been told not to play with those many times already, and I'm scared he's gonna start a fire. FML

brace yourself OP you're about to get dragged on here by all the numbnuts for " abusing" your child

First off, there are ways to child-proof stoves. This failure is ALL on the parents. Second, there are *numerous* studies that have been published and they all state that hitting children is detrimental to their development and trust in their parents. So, calling people "numbnuts" for what is a highly established form of abuse just shows what kind of person you are. As for OP, taking the knobs off and stove knob covers that lock are 2 options. Look for ways to circumvent problems while the child is too young to understand because they sure as hell are not going to understand why you just physically abused them.

I have a gas stove and the knobs are designed to come off for cleaning. why dont you just take them all off and put them in a basket or something on the counter when you arnt using the stove. it seems like a better option than spanking a young child who clearly does not understand the danger it poses after repeated warnings not to play with it.
