How could you not tell a difference?

What an ass! Get him grounded worse!

First all, why didn't you taste your desserts before? Second, fyl for your mom grounding you for something stupid like that, you must have a very strict mom, and the guests left? All they came for was the food? No conversation? Maybe a coffee instead of the awful dessert? Prank or not I'd still laugh if I tasted an awful salty dessert and wouldn't be so cold to the person who did them.

Most baked goods call for at least a cup of sugar, and if you were baking a lot of desserts you would have use a lot of sugar. That being said the sugar would probably have been in a large container, versus the salt in a not large container. So I'm having a hard time trusting the validity of this FML.

When cooking, always taste the food. Always.

Emmm, I have a couple of thoughts... 1. The dessert was no good, so everyone left??? 2. How old are you to be cooking for your mother's party but can still get grounded?? 3. This probably wasn't your brothers first prank, how come you got the blame? Sure sounds like your life sucks in more than one level.

Your brother's an ass. I would say at least you know to taste everything before you serve, but that would probably backfire somehow as well. FYL.

Next time go out to a restaurant and let them worry about the food.
