Haha that happened to me... Except that it was my bf that called someone's name. Or I should say ex-bf. As it turns out, his "book" was actually his friends, and he'd been cheating on me almost since we got together.

Tell him it was role playing, and you designed the character to be so hot, that you couldn't help but be reminded of him.
