Today, while bagging my groceries at a store, a lady came over to me, took a good look at the food I'd bought, picked out an item and put it in her bag. When I confronted her, she called security on me and told them I wanted to steal her stuff. I got thrown out and she walked away with a smirk. FML

Have them look at the security tapes. That'll clear everything up.

Why do people always make assumptions like that? Not every lady is the typical sweet old lady.

This sounds eerily familiar to a FML a few weeks back. Is this some new thing? Getting people thrown out of stores for "stealing"? What's the end game?

There were no security cameras? Did you have the receipt for the groceries? With it you could have proven that the goods are yours.

OP you are as stupid as it gets, didn't you have the receipt to back up your bought items?

Today, I am on swear spree coz of the many morons who work under me, ****** retards...

Where on earth was your receipt and the employee who processed your goodies through?

Since they were bagging their own groceries, its safe to assume that they were in a self-checkout line.

Not necessarily. In some countries you have to bag groceries yourself. However, there would have been a person at the register. It's probably safe to assume this was self checkout since she could have easily involved the register person.

Even self checkouts have cashiers attending them. And if that person was doing their job properly, they would have been paying attention to OP's groceries and checkout process, would have noticed the altercation between the two women, and should have been asked what happened.

sue the store, have the tapes admitted, you'll win

Enough with the suing! This is not a litigation-worthy occurrence. People like you need to step back from the courtroom and use common sense to figure out a way to resolve the problem. The above comments suggesting providing proof (in the form of OP's receipt) and pursuing the store's security videos, and then getting a refund/replacement, make far more sense.

You need to go to security first. If someone is crazy enough to get stuff out of your bag, they are too crazy for you to confront. This world has gotten to the point that you don't ever want to confront people directly and just have to rat them out to some authority. If I have a problem with my housemate, I don't confront his crazy ass face-to-face, I just complain to the landlord and he fixes it.

show them your receipt, you dumb-dumb
