YDI for sending those stupid ass texts! You are one of those annoying people who talk to everyone on a holiday cause you send those stupid "happy (insert holiday here)" texts. That is the only thing I hate about holidays getting a shit ton of messages that all say the same thing. Other than that I'm sure your friend would not have felt too bad about it.
