Today, I ran into an old friend. I asked her how she was doing, then asked, "And your mum?" Just as the words escaped my lips, I remembered her mum died a few years ago. Trying to save face, I messed up again and blurted, "She still in the same graveyard?" FML

Today, I was saying goodbye to a friend after a long day out. I went for a hug, and as I pulled away, I kissed her on the cheek for some reason. Realising it was an awkward mistake, I pulled back even more and said, "Sorry, I thought you were my mum." She looked at me confused, and we both stood there in complete silence for what felt like hours. FML

Today, I was having coffee with an old friend I hadn't seen since university. I asked about her husband; she replied, "He died" and walked off. I was confused, so I stood up and took off after her. She then reminded me that I was at his funeral, and then slapped me in the face. FML

Today, at work, I asked a lady how she was doing. When she replied, I didn't understand her, and instead of asking her what she'd said, I just replied with, "Oh, that's good." What she'd said that I didn't understand was that her husband had just died. FML

OP, are you interested in her??? Because after the dick move (attempt to save face), you could have compounded the situation by asking her out on a date, (supremely ackward move for sure) but you came off like such an idiot...what did ya have to lose??!! maybe the "let me make it up to you" move would of worked??? if she was ugly, your good, she'll never want to talk to you again.

You were just trying to let her know that you wanted to visit her mom's grave, and you were confirming that you had the correct cemetery. No biggie. I've said worse. :-)
