Today, I finished doing a resume that I had spent three hours on. I e-mailed it to the business I was applying for, satisfied. I decided to look it over. The first thing I notice, I spelt my own name wrong. FML

That's why you look it over BEFORE sending it. Sorry, but YDI.

The more I stumble about the internet, the more and more ashamed I am of being an American.

YDI for not looking it over BEFORE sending it.

Oh for god's sake! #117, you are completely ignorant and an aragont twat. If you think that spelt isn't a word then whoever taught you english (presuming they did) should be beaten mercilessly with an english dictionry and made to read out in a civil court "spelt1 (spelt) vb. a past tense and past participle of spell" I mean what the **** do you know about class? Well it's clear not very much! You are obviously completly up your own arse if you think that when someone is wrong about something it automatically makes them a 'hill billy'. I'm pretty sure that many people would find that incredibly belittling. People like you make me so proud to be english.

I honestly couldn't have said that better myself, even though I have tried!

Been there and done that. Except I also forgot to put on any contact details.

Wow; the behaviour in these comments is more idiotic than the OP's actions. "Spelt" is a word, and "spelled" is a perfectly acceptable alternative. Why can't both American and British posters just get it through their heads that there are TWO *gasp* spellings of it, and respect whichever one is more fitting based on where the OP is from? Honestly, it's nothing to argue over! Contentious much? I don't care whether you're American, Canadian, or British; everyone who perpetuates the argument is just going to end up making arses of themselves.
