Today, while I was helping customers in the self-checkout, one lady wouldn’t stop talking to me. Other customers needed help and I was trying to go help them. When I tried to walk away, she hugged me over my arms, physically restraining me. I froze. I actually have PTSD from being sexually assaulted years ago. FML

Today, I was at the grocery store, waiting in line to pay. A man jumped me from behind, and my first reflex was to brutally elbow him in the face. I soon discovered my attacker was one of the patients at the disability house at which I work, and he was trying to hug me. FML

Today, a co-worker at the restaurant I work decided it'd be a good idea to kiss my neck while giving me a hug. After I told him the kiss was too much, he wouldn't leave me alone or let me work in peace. I had to ask my sup to kick him out, all the while the event triggered my PTSD. FML

Today, I saw an elderly woman struggling to reach the top shelf in my local grocery store, so I went over and asked if she needed help. She then accused me of flirting with her and had me escorted from the property. FML

Today, at work, I had a customer accuse me of taking the giftcard I had issued her for her return, after spending 15 minutes trying to fix her screwed up transaction. She began to yell, and follow me around the store. Security had to intervene and I had to be locked in an office until she left. FML

Today, I was grocery shopping, when an elderly lady walked up to me and tripped over her own feet. I caught her by the arm, at which point she shrieked at me for "groping" her. She ended up smirking as security threw me out of the store. FML

Today, I bumped into a lady, apologised and tried to continue on. She screamed assault and tried to citizen's arrest me. I've got better things to do, so I ignored her but she latched onto my leg like a toddler. I ended up dragging this insane woman up the street until she finally let go. FML

OP, I am so sorry this happened to you. It goes to show we don't know what trauma others have been through that might affect their sensitivities. And of course, under no conditions was it OK for the customer to grab and pin you like that! ... It's really unfortunate that in an attempt to lower operating costs retailers are using self-checkout and even attempting to force customers to use it by having only one or two full service checkout lanes even in a big store. Some people are just not mentally equipped to deal with something new to them. I am assuming the grabby customer was very old or mentally challenged for them to respond like that - But it's still no excuse!

WHO the H3II clicks YDI on this one? What is WRONG with you people?!? OP, I am so sorry that happened, both the assault and this lady being handsy. You may need to talk with your manager (or higher if they're a poop) about making it clear any more handsy people and you have the option to walk away.
