Get away from me

Today, I found out that my over-controlling parents would be moving in next door. I'm almost 23, and moved 5,365 km away to get away from them. FML

with over-controlling parents, requesting something called "space", "privacy", "freedom to make my own decision(s)", tends to make them temporarily deaf. until you threaten or give ultimatums, then they miraculously respond.

Overly controlling parents can be just as bad as parents who don't give enough care... sometimes worse. They should respect the OP's boundaries, especially as an adult.

Parents that don't care don't feed kids, hit them, lock them in closets, glue hands to walls. Yeah you are right just as bad as someone that would moved to make sure you have food and cared for

controlling =/= caring. Controlling parents may "care" about their children, but in reality they don't respect their children's privacy, and judgment otherwise they would behave like parents of a normal adult and let them make their own decisions and only intervene when necessary.
