all male cats do that even if fixed, they like the bed because it is fluffy, and they don't watch anyone in particular just stare lol

He's not humping the blanket, he's kneading it. Cats and dogs who've been taken away from their mothers too early do this as a means of comforting themselves.

That was my first thought too. And as someone else pointed out, the cat is probably just staring into space, not necessarily at the sleeping mother.
