Today, a woman called the store I work for. When she found out it was a wrong number, she started to cry and asked me to stay on the line with her, talking about her dead husband and how she hasn't laughed in years. FML

To those who said I'm selfish for saying FML, I was just following the conventions of the site. Trust me, the situation was awkward for me, but I so feel so much more sorry for the lady who called. She was meaning to call who I assume to be family or a friend to ask for toilet paper, but instead called the grocery store. I stayed on the line for a short while, but since we're not allowed to take personal calls at work, I had to refer her to someone else. I can only hope that she found someone to keep her company.

That's a horrible situation :( sounds like she just needed someone to talk to.

You're an awesome person for staying on the phone with her. I hope you told her about any sales you had going on.

My girlfriend got this call last night. They said they needed toilet paper then went on a sad story about how their husband died. It's a prank. The girls that called my girlfriend couldn't stop laughing when they called

It was a prank from prankdial.com crazy ol lady.. One of your friends did it I guarantee you .

This sounds like a prank. Don't assume they all are though. Retail you get all kinds of stuff.

She was asking for toilet paper? Definitely a prank. I got that *exact* same phone call at work a few months back at a BK in New Mexico. She called, asked for toilet paper from Harold or something (her son I think she said), I told her she had the wrong number, she asked me to tell her a story or a joke and I couldn't think of one and the person on the other end started cracking up. I was so pissed and slammed down the phone. Don't feel bad, it was just some jerk trying to mess with you.

My girlfriend got a random call last night. They said this exact same thing word for word. The difference though it was a prank. The little girls trying to pull it off couldn't stop laughing

#49, that's terrible! Those girls are really dumb. Who jokes about something like that. : immaturity at its finest.

Lmao! You got prank dialed! There's a website with prerecorded pranks and this is one!

I've gotten this prank call at work before, exact same thing, word for word. I was trying to be nice but finally the lady at the other end lost it and started cracking up. I got so pissed and just hung up.
