Today, I was fired from my job for "lack of work". What that means is that my boss hired his good-for-nothing lazy son, who then got too big of a mortgage, and he had to let me go to pay him a higher salary. FML

If his dad fired him, then he probably never went easy on him. Maybe OP's father was his boss just while working on a specific project, and got fired at this time.

I think this FML is more about the fact that they could have talked about it face to face, given that OP' boss is his/her father, and they even live together
