This is kind of dubious. As all first aid teaches not to do the breaths any more, just compressions.
If he really was going to die, you should have popped your top off and rubbed your boobs in his face. He would have died just the same, but I’m sure that’s how he would have wanted it. I know I would – it’s on my medic-alert bracelet.

everyone saying people aren't trained to do breaths anymore: I renewed my first aid in Alberta last year and we are still taught breaths.

If you are not using a mouth shield or a bad valve mask on a patient you better find another job! In 2017 if you are doing mouth to mouth on a patient you have a problem!
Is that really a relationship you want to resuscitate? Maybe you ought to hit him with the paddles. It might shock him.
