Today, while serving a table I was asked if the vodka cranberry cocktail this lady ordered was an actually vodka cranberry cocktail. Of course I said yes. She then pushes it away and tells me she's allergic to gin and she can't tell the difference. I know 100% it was vodka. I made it. FML

If she can't tell the difference between gin and vodka, she shouldn't order either one.

Gin tends to have herbs added to it, mostly juniper berries, during the distilling process. Vodka doesn't have the juniper berries added. Which means the customer either has a gluten intolerance and thinks vodka is free of it because it's clear, or is allergic to juniper berries. Ironically, juniper berries aren't actually a berry, they're considered a cone and are related to the pine tree family.

how the **** can you be allergic to gin and not vodka. aren't they basically the same ingredients and different processes?
