Today, I was at a Buddhist shrine and wanted to light a candle for my friend who's having a rough time, when I got stung by a bee. I spent the next hour with a swollen shoulder. How does karma work again? FML

I think OP is confusing the concept of "karma" with the overused and trite "no good deed goes unpunished". Others here have defined "karma" a whole lot better than I ever could. I'd encourage OP to read up on things before exposing her ignorance again.

Teamjacob - with a comment (and username) like yours, you're calling ME a fool? I've done you the favour of looking up the definition of ignorance: lack of knowledge, learning, information, etc. OP was talking about karma despite a clear lack of understanding of what karma is. That's the definition of ignorance. If you want another example of ignorance, reread your own comment.

47, Agree with everything except I believe it was a sarcastic comment to suggest karma really is a joke. i.e if karma really exists why did this shit happen? That's the way I read it anyway. It's still ignorance, but not so much the "no good deed goes unpunished".
