Tilt

Today, it's the third time this year I was recommended to meet someone because we're "so smart, we'll get along." At dinner, this person complimented how I'd do great in their graduate course on data science. I helped develop the degree program. I can't believe I missed pinball for this. FML

Ah, women and mansplainers... Did the guy look properly ashamed of himself when you told him, at least?

Sounds like you'd do pretty good on that course then.

Mannn, I don't know. This person recognized that you are smart and related it to their own frame of reference. They gave you a nice compliment on two levels - one, that you're so smart you'd succeed in a difficult program, and two, that doing well in the program you developed is something notable and to be proud of. That the program is respectable. Also, this was a first date, right? Why do you expect people to recognize your genius at first glance? That's a weird expectation, especially if you then look down on them if they don't properly see how smart you are. How are you presenting yourself? Are y'all just talking about how smart you both are? Is it a date or office hours?
