I did something similar but it was out of the dog's water bowl. I was 3. None of the adults would listen to me and I wanted something to drink so I got down on all fours and drank out of the dogs water dish and the two dogs there decided to join me
Genetics is a powerful thing
I don't have a kid, but I do have a cat. I keep the toilet lid closed to prevent this. Maybe you should too, although I can see your daughter being clever enough to lift the lid so they can both get a drink.

Too bad that children adopt all kind of behavior... but don't worry, my mother told me that I tried to lick my balls like our cat. Such habits stop eventually.
