CPS!

Today, after an exhausting weekend of work, I decided to take a nap. I was awoken several hours later by my mother-in-law knocking on my door. Apparently my 11-year-old called up grandma to complain that she was hungry and that mum was sleeping instead of cooking dinner. FML

FYL for living close enough to your mother in law that she can knock on your door without buying a plane ticket first.

I knew the concept of responsibility when I was 9! when I was 10 I was ten I was at least able to cook eggs in a couple ways. my mom worked nights and was always exhausted. she still cooked most of the time but on the rare occasions she didn't, I was able to step up. kids today are too over babied. so glad I'm not growing up with this generation

Its ok 85. Someday you will grow a pair and figure out how to compliment, or even be civil, with the opposite sex. I am rooting for you kid. Just hang in there.

notice op's kid neglected to tell grandma that Op had just gotten home from a long weekend of work also may be time to teach bratty dearest how to cook so he/she has no excuse to call grandma again

Your child is 11 years old, and can't make eggs, toast or even cereal? Can't make a sandwich? How about you get yourself some parenting skills?

Jesus. When I was eleven I had to ask for permission to use the phone.

I was taught to cook at 7. With my mom being divorced and gone at work every night and my older siblings home to watch me, I had to make my own dinner. OP's child sounds like a spoiled brat who gets their way with everything. I feel bad for OP for having to deal with that. If I acted like that when i was that age I would have had a spank on the butt. Although I am still considered a teenager, I know not to act like that and make myself something to eat if I get hungry.

You raised her. Your own fault.

You slept 'several hours' and your child was hungry. It asked for help. Next time have food on hand that's easy to reach and prepare or maybe ask the in-laws to babysit, but don't be negligent.

You poor thing. A whole weekend? Wow, you must really push yourself. Actually, get over it. I haven't had a day off in over a month. I still get up 2 hours early to play with my puppy & study and stay up so I get 4 hours of sleep to do the same. It's called being responsible.

The grandma doesn't think an 11 year old should be able to make a sandwich, weird family.
