Today, the school I applied to work for told me they were not going to schedule an interview. Why? Because they think my papers and name are fake. My name is Seymour Skinner. I’m not joking. FML

Today, I went to the bathroom after a terrible job interview. My interviewer walked in with another guy, talking about my interview, saying he was obviously going to hire the other guy because my odd-sounding name was too hard to pronounce, yet alone spell in multiple emails. FML

Today, I was turned down for a job because they thought I lied about having a six-month internship. Why? The secretary I told off for stealing my lunch every single day told them she hadn't heard of me, and the new company won't listen. FML

Today, I got a call about a job interview, saying I was hired. I was ecstatic, until they called me back and said they'd called the wrong applicant. They called again later, saying there'd been a mistake and I really was hired. When I went in to confirm it, they said they'd never heard of me. FML

Today, I found out the reason I can't get a job. My previous employer didn't know my name, so when places I applied to called there for a reference, my boss said he had no recollection of me working there. FML

Today, I accidentally put down the wrong year for my university graduation, so when my prospective boss was checking my references he found no mention of my name in that year's list of graduates. He accused me of faking my qualifications and refused to hire me. It was a 6-figure salary. FML

Today, I got a call from a really great company that I applied to work for, asking me to come in for an interview. When I went in, they had no appointment scheduled and no idea who I was. It turned out it was all a prank by my brother and his friends. My brother is 30. FML

Go to the institution. Walk into the office with your id in hand and a copy of whatever letter/email they sent you. Slap your id down on the desk and say "im Seymour Skinner and i wanna see whoever the ***** in charge around here" then when you get to talk to said person call them out for disrespecting you for by calling your name fake. They may apologize and give you an interview if your lucky. good luck op.

I clicked YDI because there is nothing stopping you from using your middle name or a nickname on a job application. They only need your proper name from your ID for the hiring paperwork.

Go to the courthouse and change it. Before working at a school. If you think growing up with that name was bad, imagine how much worse it’s going to be at your job. Your future balled up on the bathroom floor crying self will thank you for it.
