Today, my boyfriend and I had a fight about his parents. We're both 23-year-old university students who aren't allowed in his bedroom unless the door is completely open. Nothing he says to his parents will change this. FML

Oh no! His parents want you to respect their home and their rules /values! It's awful when parents don't want their university student kids to risk getting pregnant in their own homes

ask him to tell his parents that "We are in 2019 btw"

Unless their statement is "we are paying the bills" the parents can do whatever they want (:

So hang out somewhere else. They have a right to do this, and if his parents wont change, he cant help it. It's not worth fighting with him over. You are 23, grow up and get over it. When my now husband and I were dating (in our 30's) and I took him to meet my parent's, we weren't allowed to sleep in the same room because we weren't married. Did we throw a fit about it? No. We respected my mother's rule... because we were mature adults. If this is the worst problem in your relationship things are good. Don't blow a good thing over something so petty.

Why are you still in college? Get a job. And your own place to live

Most degrees that are actually worth getting usually take more than 4 years to earn. I’m a civil engineer, the most dedicated of my peers could pull it off in 5 years, the average was 6 years if you had any sort of life or job outside of school.

What exactly are you fighting about? Since you have no right to demand they change their rules there is nothing to fight about. Suck it up. Don’t be the girlfriend who bitches to him about his parents. Doesn’t make for good long term plans.

Came here to say this. What's there to fight about? It's not like he decided that.

It’s still their house if you and your bf don’t like the rules maybe it’s time for him to get his own place.

For all the rent he is paying, he should get privacy. How much is he paying? Oh...

find what type of music they don't like and play (or sing) it constantly while in his room till "they" ask you to close the door
