Today, after scrubbing every surface twice a week for a month, I finally found the source of the pee smell in my bathroom. Under the toilet. The people who built our house didn't think it was necessary to seal around the toilet. There was two years of pee under there. FML

Today, my boss told me to find the bad smell coming from the apartment we were working on. I found the bathtub about 4 inches high full of piss, and spent the next hour bailing it out into a bucket because the drain wasn't connected yet. I have pee stains in all the wrong places. FML

Today, I finally determined the source of the horrible smell that periodically invades my apartment: there's nothing wrong with the plumbing as I previously thought, I can just smell my neighbors pooping in their bathroom on the other side of the wall. FML

Today, I was drying off with a towel after coming in from outside. I noticed that the bathroom smelled like cat pee, so I sniffed all around to find out where my cat peed. Turns out, he peed on the towel that I was drying myself off with. FML

Today, after weeks of looking for the source of an awful smell in our house, I found out our dog has been climbing over our loft banister, into the attic, and shitting. There were over twenty mounds. It took me almost four hours to clean up, and it still stinks. FML

Today, I learned why my bathroom has a horrible, seemingly irremovable stench. My cat doesn't squat to pee like a normal cat. She stands up, peeing over the side of the litter tray all over the wall and floor, which are now a permanent yellow tinge. FML

Today, I was using a mall bathroom. Thinking the toilet seat had to be unsanitary, I decided to squat. I was a little farther out than I thought, and ended up peeing all over the bathroom floor. FML

Today, I had to stop on a long trip to use the restroom at a gas station. Apparently, there was water damage beneath the toilet, because after about two minutes of doing my business, it collapsed about seven inches beneath the floor. Guess who got covered in water, black mold, and poo. FML

Today, I found out that apparently the pipes for my toilet were never connected, so anything you flush just falls out onto the basement floor downstairs. I've lived here 4 years. FML

An improperly sealed toilet leaks through the base. Under every toilet is a hole for the plumbing, and if that hole isn't properly sealed it's going to leak with every flush. That leak means liquid will build up under the floor.

You are not supposed to seal around a toilet so you can see the water when the wax seal breaks, if it's sealed you will never know it's leaking until the floor is soft from water and needs replaced.

I was about to say the same thing. Op needs to turn off the water, drain the bowl and tank, remove the toilet and clean under it if it's really bothering them. Then put a new gasket in and re-install.

Time for a new wax ring, kids seem to flop, drop, and use the throne in a rough manor... makes the shitter loose, and the smell of death invade the bathroom. It's a quick fix- if you can stomach the smell...

I don't get it, how did pee get under the toilet? Do you mean people dribbled on the floor and some of it got into the part that where it wasn't sealed?
