Shocking!

By Toasted - 29/04/2019 20:00

Today, in an attempt to be frugal, I tried to repair my own sometimes-faulty toaster. Turns out I unplugged the wrong kitchen appliance, which I only discovered by electrocuting myself while pulling it apart. Now it's definitely broken, will need replacing, and I have a burn. FML

You shocked yourself. Electrocution means death by electric shock. Watt a re-volt-ing o-current-s! You potentially could've burned down your ohm.

I’m all for trying to fix something before it is replaced but toasters don’t cost that much really. With that said, always triple check you unplugged the right thing.

Sometimes it hurts to be cheap 🤷🏼‍♀️

If you electrocuted yourself you’d be dead.

Not necessarily. If she dropped it in water and was touching the water, certainly, but there can always be a quick jolt.

A quick jolt is called a shock. The word electrocuted means shocked to death.

As a former electronics technician, there are some thing you DON’T fix yourself if you’re an amateur. Toaster is near the top of that list.

I’m curious when you took it to the table to take it apart you didn’t notice the resistance in the cord? Just how?

right! I do all my projects in the middle of the room.

Yeah I have a rule, never try to fix appliances myself unless I absolutely am paying attention and know what I’m doing. Sorry but YDI

If you're not even capable of unplugging the toaster, you're definitely not capable of repairing it...

Seriously? Toasters are the cheapest appliances around, so do the right thing and buy a new one.
