Today, I learned that CPS still won't take my sister's kids away from her, even though they are living in literal squalor and filth. They run away to my house all the time and I constantly have to give them back. FML

If it is truly "Squalor" you might contact the Health Department in you area. Maybe they can do something.

Call CPS every time the kids run away to you. Eventually CPS will have to do something

Unfortunately, CPS these days have opted more to keep kids with parents and try to get the parents resources to make the environment better if it’s possible to do because the trauma of being taken away from your parents can sometimes be long lasting. Thus they tried to keep them together as much as possible, and now with the constraint of resources they know that if they take away the kids, it’s gonna put extra resource strain on the system will not doing anything for the kids or the parents and they’re kind of stuck between a hard place and a rock. If you’re gonna help them out, you’re gonna have to have something like pictures to show how bad it is something that shows how dangerous it is for them to live in the home that makes it better for them to take the kids as in an imminent danger for the kids if it really is that bad. Now let’s just say the house is covered in kids toys and maybe the laundry isn’t done that’s not squalid. But if the kids aren’t able to eat diapers, aren’t being able to be changed or many dirty ones laying around the house creating a biological hazard followed by maybe things like certain things available like sharp items bad electrical stuff anything that can hurt them then that’s a bit different. Many times they can either help with a resource resources such as helping them get things like food or other childcare items or maybe a consultant to come in and help them make the house better that is considered resources better spent but you may not know that if they’re even working with them simply because or I’ve offered without being the ones involved. That said it takes time to set that up and immediately taking kids away, already starts to damage if they haven’t got services set up and it takes longer to get the kids back in the home even with the services being delayed, but there are more likely going to want to delay and hopefully get services before something happens, but a lot of this is based on financial funding as well as overloaded case managers Sorry about run-on sentences. It’s being transcribed right now. Carpal tunnel sucks.
