You deserved it. Corporal punishment is never the answer!
phrasing is key (._.)/
There's a reason for spanking, you know. It hurts a lot less than, like, slapping a kid across the face like abusive parents do. It's a form of discipline because little children don't understand empathy so just being told what they did wrong isn't enough. Of course, some children do understand it their parents being upset with them, but a lot don't, and OP's kid seems to fall under the latter category. It's easier for both parent and child. So to everyone that thinks of this as child abuse, please reconsider.
Spanking actually does more phonological damage than it does good in any way
I say YDI for having your boss over for dinner.
That's why punishment is helping clean up the mess they made--he sounds old enough to use a Magic Eraser or wield a soapy washcloth. Less awkward conversations, plus they learn how to clean up after themselves. In extreme cases, you can have them sit and practice handwriting for a while.
Spanking is child abuse. YDI

Sounds like a great conversation starter!
"He did the same to me."- OP's wife.
