For some people..going to France isn't a big deal. When I lived in Germany we frequently flew to Italy because a ticket was only 75 euros. It got to the point that it was really not a big deal. And the same for driving to Austria and then the France border. No big deal. You sound like a bitch laffinatu.

laffinatu got it right on the head, to me this FML seems pretty whiny. And some people's families aren't there for them, some people get abandoned and never know their parents or are abused all their lives until they can move away. Just because someone litterally has a family doesn't mean that they get to spend time with a loving family.

I thought there'd be enough there to make it somewhat interesting. And I realize that work or school is different, but four hours isn't that long. I've driven 19 hours to visit my sister in the car with my own mother listening to her music on repeat all the way, and the same music all the way home. I certainly didn't consider it an fml because I didn't like her music. We took one rest stop btw. And when did I call the OP a whiny bitch? I never called her bitch, but I did say she was whiny, because in the fml she posted, she sounds whiny. Learn to read please. And yes people have biological families. I'm aware. What I meant was not everyone has a family that they're close with either in proximity or relationship. Not everyone has living family. I also appreciate not all families get along but since that wasn't hinted to in the fml, I thought that wasn't the case here. Personally, I have a mother, sister, and 1 year old niece (none of which I live close to), the rest are dead. Not all families are alike. And my problem, since I'm a doucher (???), is I appreciate what I have, the opportunities that arise (even taking a trip to somewhere boring), and I even appreciate the long boring drives and conversations with what little family I have. I realize that I am fortunate enough to have the freedom to travel, afford a car, and cds, and I'm fortunate for my tiny little family....you know, since so many others have nothing and have real issues. You're absolutely correct, I have never been to Europe. I think any place can lose it's appeal if you've been there enough, I just didn't see anything in the fml that said that she'd been there often.

Personally, I'd rather stay at home and have a good time with my family in a non-boring place without a 4 hour car ride.
