Today, I filed my taxes. As a divorcée with children, I was supposed to get $3,500 back from the IRS. Alas, my ex's new wife already filed with my children, who don't live with her. I now owe the IRS $250. FML

You can fight that in court. If the kids don't live with her.she has no right to do that. She can go to jail if you fight it. I hate it when people lie about their stuff.

working in Canada at a tax office I understand your frustration. we daily sort that kinda stuff out. it's a long frustrating process but it is fixable
