Why on earth do guys think that spending a ton of money on a girlfriend is appropriate? I don't even let most guys pay for my half of dinner/date, let alone spend several hundred dollars on me. Valentine's is a Halmark holiday, anyway. Be sweet instead, write a cheesy poem or give her a small gift, but whatever you do, don't go buying diamonds/expensive clothes/electronics for a SO unless it's been YEARS.
