Today, after months of planning and saving for our honeymoon in Italy, my wife and I were turned away at the airport because my passport only has a month until it expires, even though it's only a five-day trip. FML

Well I for one had no idea it was like that. I don't think OP deserved it at all. That's awful because their dream honeymoon was ruined.

Despite all the rules, regulations and basic shit that you should have an understanding of, NOBODY deserves this shit. Dumbass procedures and policies revolving around an unexpired passport...what a ******* joke. Sorry OP, hope you newly weds still find a time n place to have a honeymoon. Furthermore, I really hope you got a decent amount of coin back from what you paid into.

That happened to me trying to get into Netherlands, and mine had 3 months left, but luckily Atlanta is one of the very few cities that has a passport office.

Infuriates me that you can't travel with a passport that still has 6 months or less on it!!! We pay for those books to allow us to travel so the whole process/procedure is a bit dumb!! That aside wishing the newly weds a happy and prosperous life together .. No matter where you are, at least your together

You toataly deserve it... Who waits to the last minute to renew their pasport/or travel when it's almost expired when almost all countries have a rule stating that if your passport expires within 3-6 months they won't allow you on?

That's why you do your research. I had to get a new passport to go Dubai as I needed at least 3 months on it. That was also for 5 days

Wow. That's not even something that I would think to check. I mean, as long as it hasn't expired yet then it should still be usable, just like EVERYTHING else in the world. Sorry about your luck, OP.

You should have thought about it in advance and updated your passport. Any idiot knows that you can't enter a country on a soon to be expired passport
