Skill issue or…?

By Realworldred - This FML is from back in 2015 but it's good stuff - United States - Scranton

Today, my sister started a full-time job with a good pay despite having no prior work experience and being a college freshman. Meanwhile, I've graduated with two degrees, have been working two jobs for the last five years, and still can't get a full-time position anywhere. FML

Maybe you should have thought of this possibility before pursuing a degree in English. Kidding, English majors. Just kidding. Not really.

There's always becoming a professional FML poster.

Not gonna lie, I feel for OP. America's economy is still a bit stiff. Believe it or not OP you may be overqualified. Lol I can't even get a part time summer job despite having 5 years retail experience. America isn't the brightest bulb in the closet either I guess. Stay strong OP!

if America isn't the "brightest bulb in the closet" who is?

I meant to say that in a general sense, but if you must impede my comment, South Korea has the fastest internet speed, Germany and japan create some of the best automobiles, and several European countries surpass the US in education. That's not to say our military, infrastructure, cars, technology, and education are bad though, it just needs to improve in terms of education

I'm sorry op but workplaces today only want employees who they believe are uneducated

what degrees do you have and what is she studying for? if you have degrees in the study of Batman and Philosophy and she is in a specialized field then it makes sense. I would ask the employers why they are not choosing you.

Is it possible to get a degree in Batman? If that's the case, I'm pretty much done studying by now. :P

Hey, a degree in Batman is pretty much the best degree anyone can have!

You'll find something...with professional skills that will give you a better chance...

I have noticed during my job search as well that there are many factors that contribute to getting a job, but the most important one appears to be luck.

Its okay OP. Keep trying. You're gonna end with with a better job than her. :)

I'm not sure why there are so many down votes on the comments that suggest the sister probably got the good job because she's hot. Yeah, it may suck, and may be unfair, but it is reality. Attractiveness and sex appeal go a long way toward helping people succeed, even if they don't intentionally use it.

Maybe she has something employers want that you don't.

You neglected to mention what those two degrees are in.
