Today, the love of my life, who I’ve finally been able to date after so long, broke up with me. I met her parents for the first time and they don’t approve of me dating her due to our age gap. She’s 18 and I’m 36. Apparently they don’t understand that she’s a consenting adult and can make her own choices. FML

"Finally been able to date after so long..." So how old was she when you decided you loved her? There is no answer you can give that isn't disgusting. Thank god her parents recognized your grooming for what it was.

If she was already 18 when you first met her, that would still be unnerving (calling her the "love of your life"), but not so much of an issue (within the confines of the law at least). The fact that you called her "the love of your life" and said that you can "finally be with her after so long" says A LOT about you.
