There is a such thing as seniority! Even if he did request off he might not have still gotten it because of people who were there longer than OP. Their requests would be honored first. And to the person that said reschedule your dinner, you can't reschedule Christmas!! OP, two choices: suck it up and go for your crap check or don't go and prepare to look for another job!
