You Can Now Apply To Buy A Replica Of Meghan Markle's Wedding Reception Gown, If You Have 0 Originality And Are Into That Sort Of Thing

Come on, ladies. Be yourselves. Please don't FML-up your wedding day by copying a dress that ain't even that cute.

If you fancy yourself a royal princess at heart, or just an average basic bitch, then this news is for you! According to The Telegraph, the Duchess of Sussex's wedding dress can now be recreated for a mere £3500, or $6212.

But before you start literally-can't-even-ing, you should know that the catch is not the price, but that these replicas will be sold only by application.

That's right -- you have to apply to have this little originality. You may not even get the dress, and god forbid, you might have to have a long hard look at yourself and actually discover what your own tastes are.

Stella McCartney is making exaxtly 46 replicas of Markle's halterneck gown, worn to her wedding reception– 23 in white, and 23 in black. The replicas will be made from the same silk that was used for Markle's dress as well, so you can, like, totally be Meghan Markle.

So why just 23 of each? The number is not so random- it corresponds with McCartney's London flagship store at 23 Bond Street. Gotta admit, that's clever marketing.

What does originality have to do with buying a dress? Most people don't make their own clothes, how is this less original than buying something off the rack? Sure, it's expensive but it's a (probably) handmade silk dress, what do you expect that to cost?

By that logic no one ever wears anything that looks original because all clothes were made by someone else. In this case it's a literal replica of a dress a celebrity wore. On her wedding day. Of all days to just copy someone's exact outfit... it's bizarre to think anyone would want to do that for their wedding day.

This makes no sense to me. How is getting dressed something that can be original? You're not inventing something, you're putting on clothes. There are original outfits, but you don't see them anywhere besides red carpets and the person being original is the one who made the dress, not the one wearing it. Meghan Markle's dress isn't even original when she is wearing it, it looks pretty standard for a dress except personally tailored.

I respectfully disagree. You're taking this very literally, which it's not. People dress originally all the time, that's what "style" is. Taking the time to think about what your style is and dressing yourself is original. Finding out what works for you, what you want to wear and what artists/styles you want to portray on your body is original. I agree that just wearing whatever is not original.
