Today, my mother worked out that my boyfriend and I are having sex. Instead of confronting me about it, she now just sits and stares at me judgmentally whenever I'm in the same room as her, making me feel incredibly uncomfortable. FML

If she won't confront you about it, how can you be sure that's what she's upset over? Just genuinely curious!

No this begs the question of how old you actually are? And whether or not her stare is valid. If you were underage and having intercourse with your boyfriend and your mother has found out well sucks to be you. but if you're of age in your mothers giving you the stink eye because you and your boyfriend are having a little fun. She needs to get her own life and let you live yours.

How's she find out?

I'm surprised no one corrected me, haha *how'd

Lol yeah normally people get swamped with down votes for even the smallest grammatical error.

I actually didn't even notice that until it was pointed out.

I just thought it was new slang...

Your boyfriend is a her? Or am I just stupid and miss reading. Your mom looks at you jugementally when you are in the same room as HER? are you referring to the boyfriend or the mother when you say HER?

Make sexual noises as she stares. She'll stop.

You mean it's gonna be super awkward, right?

sex is part of life no need to be uncomfortable

Just stare right back. Toss the used condoms in a trash can you know she uses. Make her feel as uncomfortable as she's making you.

One person being passive-aggressive is more than enough. OP doesn't need to add fuel to the fire.

I think the staring back is enough to make the mother stop, if not, op could throw in a creepy smile, I think the condom thing would make things worse.

Well said!

That's not an efficient way to communicate

It also depends on what OP'S mother's opinion is on sexual activity in her house. If she has a "no sex" rule and OP still lives with her, then age doesn't matter

Yes, and no. If OP is underage, then mom has a right to be upset, but the stare-o-shame isn't a healthy way of handling the problem. This seems like a good way to alienate your kid, rather than correct the behavior you don't like.

I get it if she's underage but if she's 18 it's not really mums choice. If the daughter lives there it's as much of her house and mothers, if she wants to have sex in her own room she can. She's an adult and she doesn't have to always listen to her. Espically if she's helping by paying bills. I live with my foster mother I help pay bills, she wasn't to. Thrilled when I did it for the first at 18 and she doesn't particularly like it in the house and I hear her and respect her opinion on the matter but if I'm paying bills that house is half mine I can have sex in it if I want to. Just cause it's her mother doesn't mean she has to listen to her after 18 on some things. This is something that she shouldn't have to follow

Turning 18 doesn't automatically give you partial ownership of your parents' house. If you're living under their roof, you should be respectful and live by their rules, legal adult or not. If there's something you absolutely can't handle complying with, put on your big girl pants and talk it out. Whatever the law says, you're not going to be treated like an adult until you start acting like one.

OP is Australian, sex at 16 is legal

If she's the age of consent wherever she lives her mother cannot validate this

Once your name is on that lease or mortgage THEN it's your house, not just because you pull your financial weight

age doesn't matter, kids are having sex younger and younger. it is a parents job to teach kids how to protect themselves. the damage is already done, they ARE having sex.. so the mom should be proactive about this and make sure theyre being smart/safe. sex is a part of life and no one should feel guilty for having sex especially if both parties consent

This really depends on how old you are, OP.

Not really because the mom should still talk to her about it. Especially if she is underage.

It all depends on how old you are

Well if she wants to just stare at you, start giving her the sex talk and explain in excruciating detail everything that goes on like they'd normally say to you. She'll stop. Parents don't really want to hear about their kids having sex any more than we want to hear about them.

1. moms dont need a sex talk. 2. that is the stupidest idea ever.

Clearly this mom does if she's so uncomfortable with the idea of her kid having sex that all she can do in response is stare judgementally.
