Today, my infant son refused to let me put him down for two minutes while I ate breakfast this morning. I was in a hurry to get to an event as it was, so I held him as I ate in the kitchen. While I did so, he, like a demonic feline, decided to smack my full cup of coffee over. FML.

Big tip as a parent, your infant can lay down and cry for the two minutes it takes for you to eat. It took a bit to realize THEY'LL BE FINE! Do they not cry for a bit when they wake and you're able to wake and nab them? They're not going to die. My two boys aren't dead and they don't hate me. Eat your breakfast, take a few sips of coffee and go back to the baby. Babies cry just to cry. Deep breath, mommy!

Refused to let you put him down? No, that’s not how it works. He cried about it and you gave him the attention he was seeking. The next time he’ll do the exact same thing. And the next time after that. And the next...

My sister in law did the exact same thing. She wouldn’t eat breakfast because “the kids wouldn’t let her eat.” When I watched them? That shit didn’t fly. I ate when I was hungry and they could sit and cry until I was done or they could find something else to do — exactly what they started doing when they realized I wasn’t starving myself for them.

Stop giving in to needless attention when you need to do something. It won’t go away if you abide every time.

You are not a bad parent if you let your munchkin cry for a little bit. I get it, it's probably hard to hear em cry but it isn't the end of the world.
