Perhaps he forgot to properly connect everything to the motherboard and the power supply. Forgetting to connect something or not properly connecting something (like the fan connectors to the motherboard's fan headers for example) are usually the most common issues. Take it to someone who actually knows what he's doing and can check for you before considering your expensive PC to be "destroyed".

makesure everythings connected, psu 8, 6 and 12 pin rail, psu to mobo, psu to hdd, makesure your on buttons plugged in-thats super easy to screw up with the small pins and lettering

Do some trouble shooting before admitting defeat. Check every possible connection between the power supply, the motherboard, and any drives you have. Also check the front panel connectors and the power supply switch. There are quite a few how to videos on YouTube that could help. I'd suggest specifically videos from Paul's Hardware or Bitwit.
