Cops don’t make the laws. They can’t enforce a law unless there is one, this is something beyond their control and many officers probably wish they could do more

I agree. everyone keeps saying it's about the lawmakers with shitty laws, but honestly the law is only upheld and enforced by police. it's against the law to speed yet the amount of people who I see get away with it bc of cops... yeah.

Well, yeah... They have to establish a legally- probable pattern of staking behavior. If they try to level charges with just your word, it won't follow through.

Evidence is key

Your ex actually hired someone to stalk you instead of doing it himself / herself? Have you been dating the mafia or something?
Bear with it. Think of it as encouraging employment.

I’m sorry that happened to you. What do you mean ‘it’ doesn’t work? You aren’t allowed to protect yourself in some states, but in others it isn’t even a question.

Anyone who is going through a situation like this needs to read a copy of 'The Gift of Fear' by Gavin de Becker. It has much better instructions for solving this situation than the police gave you.

How do you know it’s your ex that has got someone to stalk you?

It may just be a stalker acting alone

If you have proof that your ex has “got” someone to stalk you and you have been stalked (and have proof with phone calls, letters, being followed etc ) that is all the evidence the Police should need as enquires can be made with phone companies and CCTV trawls, finger prints etc

Recontact the Police and explain in fully. If you have the right information and the Police still say no, then raise it up the ranks until they listen
