if you haven't already....GO TO THE E.R. IMMEDIATELY!!! ANYTHING OVER 400 IS AN EMERGENCY! If you are still written up/let go from you job because of it call a lawyer because you would have a clear cut case of wrongful termination.

If it’s anything like my work that won’t make a difference. Strep throat and pink eye are the only excused absences. Doctor’s note or no.

Though I don’t know how they handle life-threatening situations, which this seems like it may be.

Great! I'm a strep carrier and test positive for strep all the time even if I'm not actually sick!

Where do you work? XD

The problem you would face is getting that doctor’s note. Maybe a new doctor every time? 😆

Side note: Why the hell are there 9 downvotes on my comment?

pretty sure you need to go to the ER. with blood sugar that high you need medical attention immediately. just get the doctor to write you a note saying you needed to be there.

Sounds similar to my job. Anything over four days of sickness or three spells in a year is a warning with three warnings being termination of the job. Someone even came in with pneumonia as a result.

Same at my work. I had bronchitis in October and just got over a sinus infection last week. Not a single day was excused so I could only take two days off. I got a verbal warning on my last one. The fact that I literally couldn’t stand from all the fluid buildup was irrelevant.

The U.K.

Is 455 low or high? Most of us don’t know the “normal” range for that number.

You should go in and vomit on the boss’s desk. Maybe he’ll sympathy-puke and you’ll both get time off!

Thanks! That makes sense. You can’t assume the general public knows low, normal and high levels of health parameters. I don’t just go around telling people my VO2max is 45.

80-100 fasting is normal, 101-127 is high, 128+ can signal diabetes.

After 2 hours of eating the sugars should be at 140.

You can die from diabetic ketoacidosis, which is an excess of acids in your blood that can kill you.

If you are in the U.S, it is illegal for a workplace to take disciplinary actions against an employee suffering a severe medical ailment. If your boss writes you up so be it, refuse to sign the write up and demand your bosses supervisor to be present. If your boss is the highest ranking supervisor at the company, let them know you will be speaking to a lawyer if they carry through with the write up.

Sometimes you need to alert work to the fact you have a condition.

My work knows I have migraines for example.
