Today, I was telling my teenage daughter about the effects from alcohol, and how she should not give in to peer pressure. While talking, I noticed that she was looking at me funny. There was a wine glass in my hand. FML

Fuck everyone who's insulting the OP's parenting. Unless the OP abuses alcohol (there is no solid indication she does), there's nothing wrong with her parenting. The daughter is underage, the OP is not.

Not getting why this is so bad. The mother is obviously old enough to drink and the daughter probably is not. There's a pretty big difference.

It would be true that it wouldn't be as bad...if she was teaching her about drinking too much alcohol. She was trying to tell her about the EFFECTS of alcohol, which is a fancy was of telling your kid not to drink...while she has DRINKING. Yeah, good job OP. You're a shining example of what parenting should be. You're like that one guy who says "DON'T HIT PEOPLE" before smacking his kid.

if you even have your kids in the same room as you while some guy is doing nude pushups on you, then you my friend have failed as a parent.

OP is a grown adult that can do whatever she wants on her own accord. her child however, is not.

Well um, I own wine glasses and I never use them for wine...they were a wedding gift, I always put my drinks in them when I want to, some people gave me weird looks when I invited them over because I was pregnant, I had to tell them it was just water or red soda :)

It doesn't matter if she abuses it or not she's still trying to teach her daughter a lesson with a glass of wine in her hand. mabye not bad parenting just bad example.

Has nobody else realized that the FML only said wine glass? Leaving me to hesitate before I rush to assume it was filled with wine and that OP is a terrible parent. It was circumstantial, with a bout of bad luck and inattentiveness which led her to remain unaware of the wine glass in her hand. Ergo, this is perhaps more of an FML than it seems.

I agree with #8. OP was also talking about peer pressure and I think that's more of a problem than anything and the point OP was trying to get across.

There's nothing wrong with enjoying alcohol in moderation. Instead of just giving her the dark picture you can explain her that it can be enjoyable if drunk in moderation.
It's not like she would not get it if she decides to try.

So??? My Dad always lectured me about not smoking, even while he was smoking a cigarette himself. He was a heavy chain-smoker and hated the fact that he couldn't quit. I think he was example enough to teach me not to do it.
