The illustrated FMLs

Today, I'm in Venice for a romantic weekend. While I was gushing about the gondolas, canals and the city of love in general, the only thing my boyfriend could say was, "Wow! How cool is it to be on the set of the Tomb Raider movie?" FML

Honestly OP. Stop whining. At least you are in a beautiful place with your boyfriend. Many of us dont a have a significant one and def dont have enough money to even get out of the State. So...

It's awkward, #21, because OP is French. Europe is small enough so that little day/weekend trips like France to Venice don't actually involve that much travelling. It would be similar to you going to whichever tourist attraction is within a couple hours of driving from home.

No. If he had said, "How cool is it to be on the set of 'The Last Crusade,'" then he'd be a keeper. Indiana Jones > Laura Croft... But maybe I just feel that way because I'm a heterosexual female.

I agree with #21. OP knows the boyfriend well if they're dating so she would of known what his interests/lack of interests are. If he isn't the romantic type, the trip was a bad move. On the bright side, at least you two aren't arguing, getting lost, or something like that.

I agree with #21, but for a slightly different reason. Just because I travel to a place with my girlfriend, doesnt mean we have to like it for the same reason. As long as you both enjoy it, no matter for what reasons, you shouldnt really complain about it.

Of course I did. You don't really think I'd dump someone because they referenced "Tomb Raider" rather than "Last Crusade" do you? And it's not as if I can scientifically analyze and compare the quality of two movies and objectively conclude that one is better than the other. It's a matter of opinion.

@31 Venice is not "a couple of hours" drive from France. It's more than a 5 hour drive even from one of the border cities. It's 2 hours flying time from Nice, which is the closest large city in France. It's more than a 10 hour drive from Paris. That's definitely further than simply traveling out of the state, unless your state is Hawaii or Alaska.

I'm enjoying 4 right now. 3 was horrible but 2 was by far the best. It put San Gimignano on my bucket list! BUT I agree with most on here just be glad you are both able to enjoy it.

If you expect any guy to gush about that stuff with you then you are in for a rude awakening. We can appreciate the beauty in things, but it won't be the only thought that goes through our mind. And to be fair, he could write an FML reversing the roles 'cause he's got a damn good point.

I could never figure out that level with the damn tiger that you always heard but never saw, then 2 seconds later you were face to face with the damn thing out of nowhere. I always found myself dead or running around lost because the tiger scared me but I could never find it or kill it. 0.o but I'm not sure if it was Tomb Raider 1 or Tomb Raider 2 that level was in. All I know is that's the level I remember because I hated it so much and I always died.

And when I went to Venice the engineering and architecture is what really made me love it. To each their own it's an amazing city and if you're both enjoying it why make a fuss?
