This Man Asked His Girlfriend To Turn Down A Promotion So She Wouldn’t Earn More Than Him And We Seriously Can’t Believe This Is Still Happening

By Nina / jeudi 28 décembre 2017 10:00
One Twitter user overhears a dramatic conversation between a couple at the airport and when she shares it on twitter, the story goes viral. By now, FMLs like this should be a thing of the past, but in 2017, this is just the most recent tale of a woman suffering at the behest of a man.

Twitter user @mzbat was at the airport when she caught wind of a juicy conversation going on between the couple beside her. Eavesdropping may be rude, but @mzbat knew this story needed to be shared and we’re so glad she did because what starts out as an appalling tale of an unhealthy relationship, turns out to be pretty empowering in the end.

It starts how many uncomfortable conversations do, with a financial issue. Apparently this woman’s boyfriend feels emasculated by her success.

His self-victimization seems to be working on her and @mzbat is not having any of it.

Then he comes in with this whammy.

And here is where the tides turn. Seems like someone was getting ahead of himself.

Yeah...this relationship was never gonna work out.

Justice has been served.

This final note to “brave airport lady” is exactly why this story matters so much. No one should have to stifle their full potential. She deserves all the success in the world.

Here’s hoping that 2018 will bring fewer stories like this and even more women doing their thing and absolutely slaying in their careers, their relationships, and every aspect of their lives.

why's it got to be fake? because no news outlet has covered it. It is a overheard conversation in a friggin airport. I can bet 10-1 that this actually happened and very recently. I live in a small town and see and hear this kind of crap all the time. It's repulsive and men that are like this should be beaten

I don't think it was in a Muslim country. Because the woman wouldn't be celebrated for leaving her husband. I think she would be called a whore, or a harlot etc. Women have hardly any rights in Muslim countries, this is a fact.

Also, you might be surprised to hear this, but people can criticize Islamic nations and not be Trump fans. Astonishing, I know. But they do exist, like Bill Maher. And myself.

Better plan, get on the plane. Make sure you have possession of your return ticket and passport. When you get to the hotel get a seperate room and dumb him there. Celebrate your new found freedom in Cancun!

No, it was handled better they way she did it. You know, before she found herself in an unfamiliar country far from home with a self-entitled jerk who thinks she's cheated him...and knows where she is. This way, he gets to spend it alone, with all his plans turned to dust and he can't quit the trip because it costs too much.

What violence? @mzbat said that they wanted to punch the dude, but they did not punch the dude. And if women did have equality in 2017, this conversation would never have happened. It wouldn't even be a conceivable conversation because the idea that a man would be embarrassed that his significant other made more than him would be ridiculous.

Whoa...slow down there, cowboy/cowgirl! There ain't a damn thing wrong with being childfree by choice. I am one myself, and I'm not a degenerate that's low on the totem pole, nor are childfree by choice people 'circus freaks' as we're made out to be.
If parenthood works for you, then fine & dandy. We childfree don't put down your choice, so please don't mock our choice, OK?

My wife makes way more than I do, and know what, I don't care that she does, as it makes our lives easier knowing that we have the money to pay all the bills and still manage to squirrel away some every month. My wife was initially hesitant to take the job offer because she was worried how I would react, and when I told her that I do not care if she makes more, she took the job.

If you are so insecure in yourself that your GIRLFRIEND making more money than you is "humiliating" why isn't the first reaction to work harder and get a better job?

There's still a lot of Male Chauvinist Pigs & sexists out there...this yayhoo is proof they're still around.
I've got news for Mr. MCP...dude, get used to single life, cuz that's what you just planned out for yo bad sef

Wow, that kind of sexism is still a thing? What a dick. That guy can go jump in an icy lake. Good for that woman for kicking him to the curb, even if it was prompted by a different issue.
