Remembering 'True Blood' Star Nelsan Ellis and his Iconic 'AIDS Burger' Scene

Over the weekend, film and television lovers around the world experienced an FML they can all agree on when actor Nelsan Ellis, at only 39, passed away due to complications from heart failure.

Ellis was best known for his role as Lafayette on HBO’s "True Blood."

His fans and costars flooded social media with tributes to the actor, including tweets from his "True Blood" costars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, Joe Mangianello, Sam Trammwell and countless others. In a heartfelt homage on Facebook, Stephen Moyer shared that Ellis was so talented that he was the only actor on "True Blood" that the show’s director Alan Ball allowed to improvise.

Through his roles in the films "The Help," "The Butler," "Get On Up," "The Stanford Prison Experiment," and his recurring role on CBS’s Elementary, Ellis has given us plenty to remember him by, but today we’re choosing to remember him in this iconic scene as Lafayette.
