Florida Man's Attempted Getaway Stopped By Tow Truck (VIDEO)
A Florida man named Yohanys Lopez went above and beyond to stop his beloved F-250 pickup truck from being repossessed, but he failed miserably and now faces criminal charges for his wild stunt.
Lopez was late on his payments and didn't try to fight with the driver of the tow truck. All he asked was that he could hop into the cab and retrieve some personal items. That's a reasonable request, right? Well, not if the personal item is the truck itself.
His pickup truck was already securely hooked up to the tow truck, but that didn't deter Lopez, who started the engine and wound up making several attempts to race off. His front wheels gained enough traction and pulled hard enough to lift the cab of the tow truck into the air, but that's as far as he got.
It sounds like the kind of thing you'd see at a monster truck rally, but it happened right next to a busy street. Repo men have to deal with frustrated people daily, but fortunately this kind of dangerous desperation isn't a regular occurrence. "That was a first — never seen one of my trucks go up the air like that..." the tow truck driver told Inside Edition when asked about the incident.
Mr. Lopez was promptly arrested and now faces charges of grand theft auto and criminal mischief. The driver of the tow truck is fine, but definitely doesn't want anyone else to try it!
