Error: ‘Hi-tech’ robot revealed as dude in costume
We’ve all wanted to be on TV at some point. The limelight and attention, the viewers looking at you in awe. Well, one Russian dude knew exactly how to make a scene and draw focus upon himself this week, when he posed as a ‘hi-tech’ robot on state television. Pretty genius, hey?
Bewildering the science buffs of Proektoriya youth tech forum, ‘Boris the Robot’ took to the stage to perform an inexplicable weird wriggle, dancing in between two guys who seemed pretty oblivious to the fact Boris was performing what can only be described as ‘the Dad dance’.
Making calculated and methodical movements, advanced ‘bots are usually a little brainer than us when it comes to a few things; including dancing, so to witness poor Boris shuffle in such a way did indeed provoke questions. Moves by ‘one of the most advanced robots in the world’ these were not.
Another critic then spotted the most dumbfounding evidence of all – a gap in Boris’ neckline that revealed his neck was definitely the neck of a HUMAN! This confirmed that Boris was definitely not a robot, but instead just an average dude named Mikhail Khodorkovsky who enjoys wearing cosplay costumes.
Khodorkovsky was in fact part of a team whose aim was to make science more appealing to the kids at the forum; not trick us into thinking we’re on the cusp of an astonishing technical advance. And to be honest, it was a pretty savvy costume (we kinda want one).
Do you reckon you’d do a better job of disguising yourself as a ‘bot? Let us know, we’re intrigued!
