Armed Robbery Scare Over Staff Game Of Hide And Seek
Well, if you can call team building activities fun, they were.
Police responded to reports of an armed robbery at a branch of NatWest bank in Birmingham, England this week when passers-by saw employees hiding under their desks.
Members of the West Midlands Police rushed to the scene and were quite surprised to find a bunch of embarrassed bank employees instead of a grand heist. This wasn't in America, so of course no one got shot in the confusion.
Chief Inspector Dave Keen made light of the adrenaline-filled mixup and praised the tipster in a tweet from his personal Twitter account:
Thanks to the member of public who called in a suspected robbery at a bank in #Birmingham today, saw staff inside hiding under desks. @ResponseWMP @firearmsWMP quickly attended and confirmed it was a hide + seek team building exercise 🤔🤔🤔— Dave Keen (@DaveKeenWMP) October 10, 2018

According to The Telegraph, a spokesperson from the bank also commented on the event:
"We are aware of an instance of the police being called out to a branch this morning. We would like to thank the police for their swift response following a call from the member of public. We can confirm that it was a false alarm, following a team building exercise, and will be speaking to the members of staff involved to ensure that they all learn from this incident."
One could say we've all learned from this... When in doubt, call the police. Most importantly though, don't do anything weird without pulling down the shades first!
