Use this as an opportunity to improve your grammar. Obviously you don't have perfect grammar or your boss wouldn't have spent the time looking for a book to freely give you. I doubt this was meant as an insult, but if you are a working adult and have noticeably improper grammar, well then you should most definitely skim through the pages, and appreciate the gesture of your boss.
