Today, I found out that the Xbox One that I got for Christmas was stolen and sold to me. Now I have to get it back to the original owner and the odds of compensation are slim to none. FML.

No, the person they bought it from stole it from someone else. Now OP needs to return it to the original owner.

Probably because they had an account synced up with their email and such? There's probably a way to track down the device in some way if you've set up an account.

How the hell do you loose an xbone? That thing stays in your house on a desk or in a tv stand. And how would you not know originally that's your Xbox that person was selling you and find out later?
